The vote boss is an event boss that spawns once for every 75 votes the server receives. Each website voted on counts as a vote.
Note that it is against the rules to attend a vote boss event on more than one account at a time.
Mechanics
The mechanics of the vote boss are simple, with it doing a magic attack to all players present at the event.
As long as you are using the protect from magic prayer, you will not take any damage at the event.
Most players use whichever gear they have that is capable of dealing the most damage per second, as the vote boss has no defensive bonuses.
Loot
Obtaining loot from the vote boss is an incredible money making method, and makes it always worth attending.
As long as a player does damage to the vote boss they will have a chance at receiving loot.
If you have an active battle pass you will receive 200 battle points for contributing to the vote boss fight.
When the vote boss dies, you will have a roll for all of the loot possible.
