Strategy

Pray Protect from Range through the first 3 phases and then alternate between Range and Mage during phase 4. It is recommended to use your best range gear for this boss.

At the start of each phase, it must be lured over a vent on the floor which spews chemical liquid. However, the vent must be the correct one, corresponding to the combat triangle (e.g. when it is green, red will weaken it).

When the Alchemical Hydra reaches or falls below 75%, 50%, and 25% of its health (that is, at 825, 550, and 275 Hitpoints), it will lose one of its heads and begin the next phase.

Phase 1 - Poison

In this phase, the Hydra starts with a green carapace, and should be lured to the red chemical pool. After the first three attacks, the Hydra will launch damaging poison blobs on and around the player's location which form poison pools on the ground.

Once the Hydra reaches 75% of its health, the bottom-right head falls off and it changes its carapace to blue.

Phase 2 - Lightning

Now with a blue carapace, the Hydra should be lured to the green chemical pool.

Throughout the phase, the Hydra will launch an electric ball in the center of the room, which spawns four lightning currents in the four corners of the chamber, converging on the player's location. Getting hit by them will bind the player and deal damage. You can run diagonally through the converging electricity spawns to avoid them.

Once the Hydra reaches 50% of its health, the bottom-left head falls off and it changes its carapace to red.

Phase 3 - Flame

Now with a red carapace, the Hydra should be lured to the blue chemical pool.

Throughout the phase, the Hydra will occasionally breathe a 5x5 layer of fire to the player's sides based on their location.

Once the Hydra reaches 25% of its health, the middle head falls off and it changes its carapace to grey.

Phase 4 - Enraged

Now with a grey carapace, the Hydra no longer needs to be lured to any chemical pools for this phase, as its damage reduction ability does not reset. During this phase, the Hydra's attack speed and damage are increased.

The Hydra will alternate between both combat styles after each attack. After the first three auto-attacks, the Hydra will use the poison attack from phase 1, and will continue to use it after every nine subsequent auto-attacks.
